Wanna look your diva-esque best from Sashthi to Dashami? CT goes shopping and brings you the latest trends from around town. Here’s the pick of the season

BEADED GLADIATOR SHOES Price: 700-800 Choices: A wide range — adorned with funky and colourful wooden beads to brown sober ones. “Some of these gladiators are adorned with multi-coloured buttons and many have pearl-like beads sewn on for a really youthful feel. They are in vogue this Puja season,” says Sunny, owner of Model, a shoe store in a shopping mall. So go ahead, pamper your feet. Where: Shreeram Arcade, New Market, Vardaan market

CHOLIS Price: 300-400 Choices: If you want to flaunt that toned midriff and sexy back, this is a must-have in your wardrobe. There’s a wide range of fabrics — one can choose from silk to brocade and velvet. The number of strings at the back varies as well. Get yourself one with a plunging neckline for that sexy, seductive look. Where: Cholis are best worn tailored. So, unless you have made a choli to team up with your ashtami sari, you better run to your darzi now!

SHRUGS Price: 150–280 Choices: These are fast flying off the racks this festive season. Prices go up and down depending on the length of the shrug. Options include long and full-sleeve ones to those with short and three-quarter sleeves. For cut, check out the oval-bottomed and non-aligned ones. Says Parvez, owner of Mantasha, a fashion store at a mall, “You could wear a shrug with jeans and tops or pair them with short kurtis. Wearing them over sleeveless tops with skirts or dhotipants also looks very trendy.” For that casual-chic look. Where: Shreeram Arcade, Gariahat, Simpark Mall

ANGRAKHA SUITS Price: 2,000-3,600 Choices: These give you that right balance of formal and trendy. Mohit Ferwani, owner of Shree Boutique says,“The inspiration for these suits came from a popular TV serial where the protagonist wears them. The kali-cut pleats vary in these suits. The price depends on these pleats and also on the latkans at the end of the tie-up strings. The more the pleats and heavier the latkans, the higher the price of the suit.”
Nivedita Konch, 21, an MCom student, says,“I have just started shopping for the pujas, but I have already bought an angrakhasuit and some casual tops.” Where: Treasure Island,AC Market (Theatre Road)

JEGGINGS Price: 350-450 Choices: Be it colour, fabric or texture, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Also, you can choose between a pair of long jeggings or a capri-sized one. “The best part about jeggings is that it is just perfect if you want to team them up with short kurtis and don’t want to wear those body-hugging leggings or that slim fit jeans. Or even — in a worst-case scenario — a churidar,” says Soma Giri, a college student. Where: Most shoppers agreed that the jeggings available at Vardaan or Shreeram Arcade are fab and reasonably priced. Your Puja must-buy!
